A young Kansas blacksmith apprentice named Hoyt Buck was looking for a better way to temper steel so it would hold an edge longer, which led to the creation of the first Buck Knife in 1902. Hoyt made each knife by hand, using worn-out file blades as raw material, and his handiwork was greatly appreciated during World War II. Following the death of his father, Hoyt's eldest son Al kept the fledgling custom knife business going until incorporating Buck Knives, Inc. in 1961, after relocating from the Pacific Northwest to San Diego, California a decade earlier. Al introduced his son, Chuck, to the knife business at an early age, and Chuck and his wife, Lori, were both involved when the company was incorporated. In 1964, the knife industry was revolutionized with the introduction of the Model 110 Folding Hunter, making Buck Knives a leader in the field, a position the company holds proudly today. Chuck worked his way up through the company, serving as President and CEO for many years before handing over the reins to his son, CJ, in 1999. Chuck remained active as Chairman of the Board until his passing in 2015, and Lori now serves on the Board of Directors and is actively involved with Buck promotional events throughout the U.S., continuing Chuck's legacy.

The 117 Brahma knife is known as the mini 119 Special due to its classic styling, inspired by Buck's early fixed blades. Its timeless design includes a traditional guard and pommel, making it durable and dependable for whatever task is at hand. The 4.5" S35VN hand-sharpened clip blade is known for its high level of corrosion resistance and edge retention, making the 117 Brahma knife versatile and ready to tackle any outdoor activity involving detailed work or heavier tasks. The green canvas micarta handle with an aluminum guard and pommel ensures a comfortable grip, while the 0.120" thick blade provides durability and strength. Buck's signature Paul Bos heat treat process ensures that each blade is tempered to the appropriate Rockwell Hardness, giving you longer edge life, ease of resharpening, and a blade that will not fail you. The genuine leather sheath provides easy and secure carrying, including a belt loop, allowing you to keep the knife at your side whenever you need it. Every Buck knife is backed by Buck's Forever Warranty, which guarantees that it will be free of defects in material and workmanship for the life of the knife.
